Tips for Ebay auctions (1)

Hi,

Selling on Ebay for a while teaches you many little quirks and procedures that help things to sell, so here's a few things which I think people will find useful:

List your items in the evening at about 8pm - 10pm. This emans that they will be at the top of the listings in their category at about that time (as they are about to time out). Most people are on ebay at this time, and you are more likely to sell your item, or get a higher bidding for it. Alternatively, if you want to buy something, bid for things which time out in the morning!

When selling multiple quantities of items, list them with 10 day lisitngs, then relist the same lisitng one or two days later. That way every 1-2 days your listing will be seen at the top of the listings just before it is about to time out, thus generating maximum exposure.

Use featured listings to draw traffic. If you are selling a large quantity, with a sufficient profit margin, why not try forking out £10 for a featured listing. This will appear at the top of the category for the whole 10 day duration, and it's thus highly likely that your listing will be seen before any competitors, and thus bought straight away! Since yout customers probably won't see your competition, then you may be able to afford to up your price a little! Don't be afraid to invest for a featured listing, but be sure that your item is a good seller before you do.

Use ebay "marketing promotions" - these are a fairly new feature which enable you to upsell. That is, if someone buys something from you, they are offered something else of yours. You can set this up im "my ebay".

Instead of paying for Bold and highlighted auctions, try adding special characters and capitol letters in your titles to stand out from the crowd. the only feature which really helps sales is a gallery photo. I would recommend this for almost every auction.

Just a few rules which I sell things by,

Pete
